Your brain and your body

Getting a handle on stress is important for everyone. It’s especially important for Sensitive people. You’re already overloaded by stimuli and stress is not a welcome addition. Add your smoothie ingredients to a list and make it a priority to pick up fresh stock weekly.

Here’s a simple life hack that will boost your brain power and help you get a peachy start to the day.

The Secret: Eat a great breakfast. Simple, right? It would be except time, inspiration and organization are in short supply.

No More! Add this one easy life hack to your day. Your brain and your body will love you for it!

Prepare a Simple Delicious Smoothie

Why you ask? Because smoothies give you

  • The vitamins and minerals you need to power your body and brain.
  • They’re delicious.
  • You can drink them on the go.
  • If you throw some greens in there, you can feel proud of yourself all day! Veggies – check! … already had some
  • Did I mention, they’re delicious! Way better than a donut.

Why are smoothies the bomb for sensitive people?

It’s because you process information differently. You absorb more data and are aware of way more subtleties. If that weren’t enough, you spend loads of time and brain power mulling over all that ‘stuff’.

That means your brain requires more energy than most. You need more vitamins and minerals; especially potassium and sodium. You can find out more in this post on the site.

A well prepared smoothie will

  1. Fuel your brain
  2. Put a lovely bounce in your step
  3. Set a smile on your face
  4. Help with weight loss

Welcome. What I’d like to show you is a way to make a healthy breakfast. It’s for those of us who are dealing with things like gluten intolerance, celiac. So you can’t have wheat, you can’t have cereal, you can’t have bagels. Um, it really limits your choice for breakfast.

So this was the most difficult meal for me as I tried to change my eating habits. I found smoothies and you can whip these up and clean up the kitchen in about 10 minutes.

They’re full of protein and carbohydrates. And there’s so many amazing things that you can add to this, so that you can increase the nutritional value.

I’m really into smoothies. I actually throw greens in mine and some other really great things. I won’t do that today because we’re just starting out. But, I will show you just how to get this done.

So very, very easy. So I’ve got my blender. I have a very powerful blender. This is the one thing in the kitchen that I use more than any other appliance. You do not have to buy something this elaborate. This is called a Vitamix. Um, you can just use a regular blender that you have, to do fruit smoothies.

So what we’re going to start with is fresh filtered water. I’ve got about two cups in here. I’m going to add a protein powder, a whey powder. Now I’m pretty fussy about what I put into my body. So I’ve done a lot of research. This particular whey powder is from New Zealand cows. They’re using the milk from cows that are not fed genetically modified crops in New Zealand. So I really liked that. And there’s no artificial flavourings or anything in this. So I’m really happy with this product.

Now I live in Niagara. Beautiful place to grow produce and especially peaches. And this is peach season. So I’m going to show you how to make a very easy Peach Mango Protein Shake.

So here are my peaches and I’ve just purchased some frozen mango. I find it’s nice to add something in there that’s been frozen. It makes your drink cool, which can be great.

So again, really simple. Here’s our water, about two cups. I’m going to put a whole scoop of protein powder in there. Now that’s over 30 grams of protein, which is about a little less than half of what I would need for the whole day. So that makes eating really easy for me.

And then we’ve got our peaches. Now I’ve got three peaches that I’ve cut up here. I probably won’t use all of them. I can just nibble on those later and my son will eat them.

And there’s my mango going in there. Super easy. I’m going to put the lid on my blender.

Okay, so that literally took me 35 to 40 seconds to to actually mix together. I’m going to take the top off and put this down here. And then I like to use a Mason jar. I’ll walk around for the next hour or so sipping my absolutely delicious protein shake. Peach Mango Protein shake.

Brain Boosting Smoothie Recipe

Here’s a list of things I add to my daily smoothie. I’ve been tweaking this since 2007. Start small and work your way up. If the thought of a green smoothie makes you gag a little …. hang tight. You’ll develop a taste for them in no time.

If you have a smoothie recipe, please share in the comments section. I’m always looking for new inspiration

I learned over time to stock the kitchen so breakfast smoothie time goes without a hitch. You can drink this as you get dressed for the day or take it on your morning commute. What could be easier?

  • 100% Coconut water (no additives, organic if possible) This made a HUGE difference in my life. I attribute it to the sodium, potassium and magnesium found in coconut water.
  • Protein Powder
  • Avocado
  • Fresh ginger
  • Fresh turmeric
  • Frozen banana
  • Wild Blueberries
  • Fresh lemon juice
  • Ground Flax Seed
  • Psyllium
  • Dates
  • Greens
  • Kale
  • Parsley
  • Fresh filtered water

Stress Kills – Greens Revive

Getting a handle on stress is important for everyone. It’s especially important for Sensitive people. You’re already overloaded by stimuli and stress is not a welcome addition. Add your smoothie ingredients to a list and make it a priority to pick up fresh stock weekly. (I’ve been using Workflowy so list making is super organized and easy. It’s on my desktop and phone so I never leave home without it. There’s even a great free version.)

I was born in to a military family. Then I married someone in the military. For 40 years, life was “hurry up and wait.” Looking back, that aspect of military life was helpful for my sensitive system. I learned to get organized.

When you’re organized, you can afford to take a breather. (That’s the wait part. I guess no one wanted to be late for the battle.) The breather gives you wiggle room to relax. You could even sneak in a mini-meditation while you chill. Add that to the wonderful brain boosting power of the green smoothie you drank and you’ll add healthy years to your life.
